- Tobais has been exploring the ruined ship beneath Torch for months – long after his companions moved on. He keeps finding new chambers, new information. He’s learned to speak the language the ship does. And curiously, the ship appears to be made of the same material (skymetal) that the Dragon blade he found is.
- Disaster. The black dragon that has been hunting Tobais finally finds him. And it’s much bigger than he remembers. It pursues him through the ruined ship, and in so doing, damaged the plasma venting chamber. This ship is now building to overload! And the way out it blocked!
- With only minutes remaining, Tobais is mysteriously guided towards a previously undiscovered chamber, and inside, a glass tube, containing a small ball of red liquid. As he examine it, the liquid surges through the crack in the glass, stabbing him in the hand. But there is no pain, and when he looks down at this hand, the red liquid is gone, save for a small red dot on his hand.
- Tobais’ stands atop a chamber he is familiar with… the “Gateway Room”. Once there, his is able to activate the gateway, and he is transported to safety just as the dragon finds him again and lunges.
Tobais awakens in a dark, frozen forest, which he is under-dressed for. Just as he is contemplating hypothermia, he is greeted by a mysterious figure – a nameless monk.
Jane, Volusian 9328, and Verloren are awakened on-board Ship 8 from deep freeze. They are informed of the dire straigts Ship 8 finds itself in, and given a mission. The surge of energy that followed Tobias from Golarion to ship 8 brought with it sufficient additional charge to make another transition. Their task is to rescue Garm and Korric from their prison on Carceri, and bring them back to the Flotilla. They are accompanied by Tobias, who has agree to work to restore Ship 8, in hopes of finding a way home.
Garm and Korric
Garm and Korric have been captured by Caedius, a demodand who opportunistically aligned himself with Cyphiax. Korric, badly damaged, has been biding his time. During that time, he observes a communication between Caedius and Cyphiax. Cyphiax is in human form, on an Earth-shard, in a familiar city: Chicago.
Garm, placed under the influence of a sleep inducing amulet that prevents his regenerative abilities from activating, has been seeing a dream.
In Garm’s dream, he walks the halls of the palace of his father. His father’s vassel appeared, warning that Grazzt was approaching the palace, ahead of a party of war.
Garm’s father ordered his men to defend the palace, and ran off to join the defense. Garm’s mother implored him to find his brother, “Gale”, and his in the safe-room.
After finding Gale, Garm was confronted by a figure who looked like his father, but wasn’t. It was his father’s brother, Grazzt. Grazzt launched a magical assault at Garm, which was intercepted by Gale.
As Gale’s body broke apart under the green flame, Gale’s father appeared, and the two demons clashed swords. Grazzt told his brother that he had brought this upon himself, by “bringing that abomination into existence.” Saying further, “This will mean war!”
Transitioning to Carceri, the rescue team manages to stay one step ahead of the demodand jailers, free Garm and Korric, and escape before Caedius can arrive to stop them.
They return to Ship 8, to plan their next move.
